Sato Yukari
Yukari grew up in Ehime, known for its handmade Japanese paper. Her career as a fashion model began when she studied abroad in London. After returning to Japan, she studied at the Kuwasawa Design School, and in 2010, she began working on handmade Japanese paper production in her hometown.
In 2012, she moved to her current studio, where she continues to create in a natural environment, using Kannon water, one of Japan’s top 100 natural water sources. She has worked on various projects for clients, including original lighting for the RIMOWA Omotesando store, decorations for LOUIS VUITTON stores, art pieces for the InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8, and ceremonial wrapping boxes for the Nissan ARIYA.
In recent years, she has focused on the possibilities of incorporating digital fabrication, such as 3D printing, into her work, producing numerous three-dimensional pieces. She has won both domestic and international awards in design and crafts. She is also a special lecturer in the product design course at Osaka University of Arts.
