The city of Uchiko requested the use Requ’s washi for the vaulted ceiling of the restrooms in the Uchiko Theater, a cultural asset of national significance.

A checkerboard pattern was used for the women’s restroom and a lattice pattern for the men’s restroom.

Lighting was installed through the washi paper to create a modern Japanese feel.
